Dr. Botao Feng is an Associate Professor, Senior Engineer, and master’s supervisor at Shenzhen University. As a dual-qualified scholar with extensive academic and industrial experience in electronic information and wireless communications, his research focuses on advanced antenna technologies, RF systems, and key enabling technologies for next-generation mobile communications. He is committed to translating fundamental research into engineering solutions and industrial applications.

Dr. Feng serves as Director of the Wireless Communications and Antenna Propagation Laboratory and Chairman of Shenzhen Bodasheng Technology Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Taobida Technology Co., Ltd. He has received the Science and Technology Innovation Award from the China Industry–University–Research Cooperation Promotion Association and the Invention, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation Award from the China Association of Inventions.

He is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS), Canada, a Visiting Professor at Huizhou University, and a collaborating supervisor for international doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers at Shenzhen University. He is an IET Fellow, an IEEE Senior Member, a Senior Member of the China Institute of Communications, a member of its Microwave Technology Committee, and a member of the Chinese Institute of Electronics. Since the 2021 annual list, he has been consecutively included in the World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking released by Stanford University and Elsevier.

Dr. Feng contributes to IEEE, IET, Elsevier, Wiley, and Springer as a conference chair, technical committee member, editorial board member, and reviewer. He also serves as an evaluator and consultant for numerous national, provincial, and municipal government agencies, funding bodies, and professional organizations.

The laboratory led by Dr. Feng is a core team of the National Key Laboratory of RF Heterogeneous Integration. With more than 70 members, the laboratory maintains an integrated innovation chain spanning fundamental theory, core devices, system integration, and engineering prototypes. Its facilities include Sub-6 GHz, millimeter-wave, and Sub-THz antenna measurement chambers, active–passive integrated system-development platforms, and high-performance electromagnetic simulation clusters.

Before joining academia, Dr. Feng worked at Nokia and China Unicom in mobile communication system development, network deployment, and optimization. In recent years, he has led or participated in more than 100 research projects, published over 230 papers, including more than 70 SCI-indexed articles, authored two professional books, and filed more than 80 patents, of which 67 have been granted. Technologies developed by his team have generated more than RMB 2 billion in economic output and created over 5,000 jobs through applications in telecommunications networks and home communication terminals.

Dr. Feng is dedicated to cultivating high-level engineering talent and advancing industry–education integration. His work supports the development of information and communication disciplines at Shenzhen University and the high-quality growth of the next-generation information and communications technology industry in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.
